The 1950 Los Angeles Rams, led by Quarterbacks Norm Van Brocklin and Bob Waterfield, Scored 38.83 Points a Game

The 2007 New England Patriots? Nope.

It’s a throwback. The 1950 L.A. Rams are the highest scoring offense in NFL history, running up the scoreboard to the tune of nearly 39 (38.83) points a game. There were only 12 games on the schedule back then, though. Still, talk about dominating your contemporaries.

Those 16-0 Pats from 2007 are the highest scoring offense of the 16-game era (1978-present).

Here are the top 20 teams with the highest points per game averages in a season. My how offense has exploded – 10 of the top 20 occurred from 2000-on.
